Hello friends :)
Today's the day! I've been typing my little heart out, and editing and proofreading too 😊 and my newest book Luxurious Weight Loss is now available in eBook and paperback. (Audiobook in progress!)
If like me, you wonder why food/drink/eating/your body has to take up so much mental space, I think you'll appreciate this book, which not another diet or food program. It's about building an amazing happy lifestyle for yourself, and slimming down at the same time.
Luxurious Weight Loss is written from the perspective of someone who tried the diets (even when she was not overweight as a younger person), and instead of losing weight, gained it.
What's up with that? Imagine buying (and rebuying) a product that gave you the opposite results than was advertised. And no-one said anything!
It makes no sense why we should always be concentrating so hard on what we consume. Animals in the wild don't sit there wondering if they've eaten too many leaves today!
But us humans don't have it so easy. We have so much going on in our minds that it's easy to find ourselves a bit out of kilter.
This book gives you permission to ‘just be’ and look and feel great as well.
There is nothing to do. No plan to start.
All that is required is you be committed to yourself, and know that you deserve to live your best life and be slim too.
How much more beautiful can a lemon be? Picked from our tree in wintry Hawke's Bay. It's a lemon straight from the central casting fruit department complete with two perfect leaves 🤣 Swear it came it off the tree like this!
It's such a nice season for citrus. There is a free fruit trolley down the road from us, and we pick up a few oranges while passing, and also drop off some of our limes.
This lemon was used on fresh white fish for dinner. Yum!
Since we live a little bit out in the country, plus I have to be gluten free (celiac), it's been SO long, years, since we had takeaway foods.
So we cook our own at home when we feel like it. The fish was cut into squares, tossed in gluten free seasoning (I love Fogdog products!) and air fried. Pair this with homemade chunky fries (scrub a potato and slice into wedges, spray with olive oil and bake in the oven), and homemade coleslaw and life is good.
The standing joke is that I never remember to pick the lemon until it's dark and cold (aka when I'm just serving up) and I send Paul out in the rain to get one 😂
This day, miracle of miracles, I remembered to pick a lemon in the daylight, but only because I was passing the tree!
Paul was so impressed that he didn't need to do his usual trek across the lawn that I didn't like to say it was not my stellar memory that got him off the hook.
If you are around my age (54), do you find that your memory has... gone? I write so many things down now, and make notes on my phone, calendar entries, and I still forget so much. Like what day it is, the month. (That's okay, I just check my phone). It's nuts!
Anyway, I just go with it. It's all part of life 😊
In my new book I am particularly proud of Chapter 3. It's called The Elegant Middle and no, it's not about a slim torso 🤣 but it will lead to one!
If you've ever been on a diet (even diets that are sneaky and not called diets), I think you will find this chapter (and the whole book!) very helpful.
For many of us (definitely me), we think that if we are always striving we'll be more successful. And of course, up to a point it is helpful. I love setting goals for myself, having exciting projects on the go, and achieving success in my life.
But I don't want living a slender and happy life to be one of those projects. I want my health and my weight to hum along nicely in the background, with no fuss or bother.
And that's the spirit in which this book was written.
My goal with weight loss, as with any other goal I want to achieve in life is to make it fun, easy, playful, light, and alluring to me. Otherwise I just don't want to do it. At all.
This is why I write my books how I do. Some might call them fluffy 🤣 But I couldn't write a depressing book if you paid me a million dollar advance!
If you want to feel light, unbothered and yes, luxurious, won't you try something new?
Because what I’ve found is that you don’t need to have lost all the weight to feel like you’re in that slim mindset already. When you realise you’ve not obsessed over what to eat and have just been living your life it’s a beautiful thing. I think it’s even more important than the number on the scale.
And the beautiful almost-miracle is, when you feel lighter in your mind, it creates a ripple effect to feeling light in your body.
Or maybe you are totally happy with your weight but your mind is in a bit of a tangle regards food and drink. I think you might find something in this book for you too. At any rate, read the free sample on Amazon and find out!

Hi Fiona, I actually pre-ordered yesterday, and it was waiting on my kindle at 6am this morning. Nice!
I've read the first few chapters and really like your Elegant Middle idea. Looking forward to reading the rest; 30 Slim Days is one of my favorites, so this is like the next generation.
Have a lovely - lemony 🍋- week!
